He once wrote: “To me a bicycle is a machine of magic … taking me on to the ways of satisfied happiness; giving to me the good friendship I enjoy with others, and to share with me the delights and ecstasies of the outdoors. It gives to me the pleasures of mingling the past with the present … always discovering … always learning. Above all it gives to me also, memories to cherish and store inwardly, as I wheel my ways on joyous days … such a day has been today.
“With elaborate design, a bike’s wheel frames now present really beautiful shapes of flowers. These unique wheels make the bike quite different, as it seems more like an artwork instead of a functional vehicle. If you’re interested in these WOW bikes, you may check designer Ron Arad’s Facebook page to buy one, because the bikes are currently on auction there.”
Thanks to Gareth at Combing my Hair for this link. - He said, “I love this animation. It shows Boris Bikes as they are hired and riden to new docking stations across one day last October. It shows conclusively that the bikes are being used for commuting – watch the numbers peak during the morning and evening rush hour. The bikes’ movement is shown as ‘tadpoles’ says the Guardian, but given Boris’ track record maybe the makers of the animation were trying to suggest something else.”
